Dear East Village Condominiums,
Your input is requested concerning the new Housing Navigation Center for the homeless to be located in the previous Skydiving Center at 14th and Imperial Streets. The Downtown San Diego Partnership is sponsoring a Town Hall meeting with the senior staff from the City of San Diego and the San Diego Housing Commission.
The homeless Navigation Center will provide support services for all those experiencing homelessness throughout San Diego. The City has not provided information on the process that will be involved in the running of this facility, and have left many unanswered questions on the impact of this homeless social service facility on our neighborhood. The only information given is that it will not provide housing, but instead provide counseling for those experiencing homelessness in all areas of the city for possible placement in housing or in other social service programs.
It is extremely important for the City to hear from the residents, business owners, and property owners in East Village about our concerns and unconditional requirements for mitigation of impacts on our neighborhood resulting from the placement of this large Homeless Navigation Center.
The time and date of the meeting is:
Wednesday, June 20
Neil Morgan Auditorium, Central Library
Your perspectives, questions, and demands for increased security and maintenance of sanitary conditions on our sidewalks will be a valuable asset in helping the community to obtain recognition by the City that their continued intense concentration of social service facilities in this neighborhood does impact the community.
