$400,000 doesn't get you as much these days in a hot market like San Diego. If you're moving here from out of town, some of our prices might give you sticker shock. If you are moving with in the city you already know the high prices that are fetched by many of the condominiums in condo loft buildings throughout the downtown area. But if you're around $400,000 here's what's currently available.

As of the end of March, 2017 there are currently 17 homes for sale priced between $400,000 and $450,000.

Starting at the bottom at $400,000 is a one bath studio apartment with nearly 700 ft.² (kind of large for this price range) located at 120 Island Ave., #444. This loft is located in the Marina district and is close to shopping, restaurants and just two blocks to the Marina. It offers a private, modern design with open floor plan and high ceilings. This Home Is Move-In Ready. Also around $400,000 is a one bedroom and one bath condo with 675 ft.² featuring a finished design with a rooftop Jacuzzi and secure building complete with state-of-the-art fitness center and washer and dryer inside. This is located at 1080 Park Blvd., #1414.

From here, prices jumped to $409,000 for 675 square-foot one bedroom and one bath condo at 350 11th Ave., #829. This condominium looks out into Petco Park in the heart of downtown.

Also at $409,000 is a one bedroom and one bath condo with 619 ft.² at 1431 Pacific Hwy., #504. This one bedroom home is perfect for renting out or for a first timers option, or even for business people that like to have a one bedroom studio or condo in downtown. This condo features granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and in unit washer and dryer. It's located between Little Italy and the waterfront.

Jumping up to about $420,000 the size of the unit increases slightly but you still have a one bedroom and one bath unit at 888 ft.². Located at 1501 Front St., #419 is a beautiful fourth floor unit at the Piazza Palermo complex. This is located on the corner of Italy and the Gas lamp district. This has some of the lowest homeowners fees at about $307 per month in the city.

$430,000 is a high-end one bedroom and one bath property with 756 ft.² located at 850 Beech St., #305. Nestled in the Cortez Hill neighborhood within walking distance to Little Italy, Balboa Park, and the Gas lamp Quarter, this home features a private third floor and units. It's a secure building and is move-in ready with lots of amenities.

At the top of this price range of $449,000 is a two bedroom and two bath condo with 971 ft.² at the ALoft on Cortez Hill. Located at 889 Date St., #141, this condominium features one bedroom and the loft with natural light, open floor plan and private outdoor patio. The community offers a pool, spa, private cabana, fitness center and fire pit area.

So, this is what you get for around $400,000 in San Diego. Condo layouts are between one and two bedrooms and sizes are between 600 ft.² and 900 ft.².
