North Park is located north of Balboa Park hence the name. It is one of the largest communities in the San Diego Metro area and stretches from Interstate 805 and Mission Valley south to South Park bordered on the east by Interstate 805 and on the west by Balboa Park and University Heights. It is primarily residential.
The famous North Park sign welcomes residents and tourists located at 30th St. and University Avenue often times referred to as the heart of the neighborhood. It includes several sub neighborhoods including Burlingame, Altadena and Morley Field. In the early 20th century North Park was one of the many San Diego neighborhoods connected by the class I streetcars. It featured an extensive San Diego public transit system spurred on by the Panama California exposition of 1915. Streetcars were a fixture in this neighborhood until their retirement in 1939.
North Park is a blended mix of architectural styles from many eras. You might find charming bungalows, turn-of-the-century craftsman's, historical homes and vintage classical properties. There's also a wide variety of condominiums and multifamily properties ranging in price from $300,000-$800,000.
North Park makes a great location for many people commuting to downtown San Diego as there are several routes and is typically about 10 minutes away.
